Plot Summary: This is the story before the story of Wolverine. Logan (Hugh Jackman) is a little boy when he finds out he is a mutant on the night he murders his own father. After an escape with his brother Victor (Leiv Schreiber) and a lifetime of going on war for his country, higher military officials find out about Logan and Victor's secret weapons. This secret makes them a part of a special team under the command of Stryker (Danny Huston) and on a mission to find the source of a special metal compound, Logan begins to warm into his humane side and quits the team.
Six years and a girlfriend later, one member from his ex-team is hunting down his old team mates. Logan makes a shocking discovery of who is behind the murders and what their intentions are.

My thoughts: The X men series are a favorite world over, what with their great special effects and storyline and all. Unfortunately, despite the fact that this film portrays Hugh Jackman at his best, it still falls short of a good delivery. The film tries to weave in too many stories to make a whole, thereby not establishing any in its entirety. The audience feels no connect what so ever with its characters, and just when they start to feel some connectivity, the film badly transitions to another part of the storyline.
The special effects are brilliant, as with all in the X men series and the actors try hard to stay in character through the film, but Logan and Victor's stand out the most, not to mention the stunning Taylor Kitsch playing Gambit.
While the world finally knows what really happened to Logan, what is disheartening is the story is not good enough. One would expect a more hard hitting sort of story telling for their most favorite character in the series.
Yet undoubtedly, the best part of this film would be Hugh Jackman's bum.

Rating: **1/2
